¶ A new year is upon us, and like many others in the world from which I hail, I wasn’t sure where I’d be at its onset. After all, my past is somewhat checkered. But the year will begin with me continuing to enjoy time with my family. Perhaps we haven’t got all the money we’d like, all the toys we’d like, the kind of home we’d like… hell, we’re pretty much broke and things just keep happening to make it worse. For instance, the fuel pump on the car seems to be shot now and the house has sprung a new leak that’ll need to be repaired. But, such is life. “Que sera, sera.”
¶ The important thing is, we’re not destitute.

…Good will toward Man. That’s the single-most oft-repeated theme in all Aura’s pulled up regarding the ancient tradition called “Christmas.” Based on the holofiles she’s retrieved, Christmas looks like it was a time of year when everyone could (more or less) set aside their differences. They would draw closer to the ones they loved and forget about their conflicts for a week or so, celebrating their lives together. They would exchange gifts with one another and exalt more in the giving than in the receiving. It sounds crazy, doesn’t it!

¶ Okay, the day after we blew up Raven08’s Drake-class battlecruiser, another important event took place. But, to be honest, I was too busy yesterday to make a note of it in these Chronicles. So I will log it today – we took a loss. And an expensive one at that.
¶ Four of us set out into a low-sec pocket of Molden Heath looking for trouble and perhaps even profit, caring not if it meant we might run afoul of the anti-pirates who had worked with us to ensure the disruption of that Drake’s warp core the night before. I was flying my Rupture and the three officers I was flying with were flying their Kestrel-class frigate, Vexor-class cruiser and Sacrilege-class heavy assault cruiser respectively.

¶ What an interesting and eventful day this has been!
¶ Before I go any further, I would like to point out that you won’t always see me making an entry into the Defias Brotherhood’s Chronicles on a daily basis. In fact I didn’t intend to write today at all. But the days events were so extraordinary that their telling could not wait.
¶ Today, we continued our business relationship with Dryson Bennington and made a new friend in a pilot named Raven08.

…though perhaps not the start we had in mind.
¶ The Defias Brotherhood Corporation of the EVE Universe was founded by four previously carebear-minded pilots and two combat pilots they’d recruited with the intention of obtaining security for their mining operations. However, it didn’t take long for all six of the pilots to get bored, and when I asked if everybody was feeling the same itch I was – the itch to destroy dreams – the feedback was overwhelmingly enthusiastic. Intending to continue to be able to mine in relative peace with our industrial characters, we decided that we would keep them and that original corporation separate from the new corporation which would be devoted to PvP by way of privateering.
