As the title says, this one will be short and sweet. As I mentioned in my ‘feeler’ post on OOPE, now that Pirates of the Burning Sea offers a free trial, I’m going to give it a 14-day test drive. I loved the Pirates of the Caribbean movies (Captain Jack Sparrow was an awesome character and the trilogy ended perfectly; the Flying Dutchman must have a captain!) I’ve been interested in trying PotBS since it was first announced, but I’m not a rich man and can only support one MMO sub at a time.

¶ Despite the terms of the agreement, under which GODS members were to make no shitpoasts or smack about the matter (which we haven’t), it has been clearly and publicly established in two posts (here and here) on CAOD that Pure. has lost their war. With respect to the arrangements that have been made, I won’t go too far into detail about it.
¶ It is enough to say that Pure. put up more of a fight than any of us expected them to, especially considering that the rest of the Northern Coalition was largely occupied elsewhere defending against MAX and Triumvirate. Despite the fact that G00DFELLAS came out on top of almost every single fleet engagement (we had negative killboard efficiency on only 3 days out of the O-2 conflict: the 3rd, 4th and 5th of September, when things were just getting underway). Despite the fact that Papa Pod’s doomsday detonations claimed only 13 G00DFELLAS ships, despite their inability to destroy a single GODS capital ship, Pure. was never afraid to engage and did their utmost to give as good as they got. Their POS defenses were more than adequate and while it could be said that our failure to destroy POSes the first time was due to our not having enough numbers in every time zone, the Pure. POS gunners and capital fleet can’t be discredited here.

¶ The three days since the last battle report have been largely uneventful in O-2RNZ. After the destruction of The Perfect Storm (which will be recommissioned at the earliest possible convenience) I returned to ROIR-Y with what little of the crew managed to survive the explosion, hired a new crew and returned to the front aboard The Big Boom, a Tempest-class battleship. Fitted with a pair of plates and carrying a specialized Damage Control crew with the best equipment ISK can buy, The Big Boom is loaded for bear… or dreadnaughts or anything else our FC’s point us at.
¶ With Triumvirate and Band of Brothers threatening NCC titans and motherships in Tribute, there has been little more than sabers rattling back and forth at one another in Deklein. Even so, I’ve managed to capture some impressive images during one of the Northern Coalition’s attacks on a friendly tower in the sieged O-2RNZ system.

¶ First, I would like to say that after correspondence with Smakalicious of IAC, I will be writing for EVE-Mag.com, an eZine focusing on Eve-Online which has carved out a nice little place for itself in the EVE-O community, even becoming an officially recognized Community Site. I expect to submit my first article before the end of this week after some questions I have are answered.
¶ As I was familiarizing myself with EVE-Mag’s current body of work, I came across an article by ShadowRhino titled “Why EVE is Not Going the Way of the Carebear…“ In it, he says*:
I’ll start with what is likely to be the least controversial change coming up, the high sec ganking nerf. Some people are wondering why Concord would respond faster then in the past. Why would there be a bigger sec hit when attacking someone in 1.0 as opposed to .5? It’s rather simple. Ganking someone in highsec is an “illegal” act as far as concord is concerned, that would cause them to respond. The patch will cause concord to respond realistically, if you were to stop and think about it. I being from the U.S., in California, I have been to various areas where the police presence varied greatly. That difference in presence corresponded with the “value” of the area to the city I was in.

¶ I skipped the shower when I woke up this afternoon, heading right to my capsule and bringing The Perfect Storm’s systems online. I didn’t waste any time announcing my presence to the fleet commanders in O-2. A glance at the Local comm channel showed 228 pilots connected, and the number was rising. I reported before that the NCC had managed to replace their cynosural system jammer under cover of an Avatar-class titan piloted by Papa Pod of Pure. alliance. But we already had plenty of capital assets in place, so G00DFELLAS high command was showing no sign of letting up on the siege of O-2.
