O-2RNZ Concluded; Hunting Season Underway

icoPosted by: Havohej  :  Category: Chronicles: EVE

Despite the terms of the agreement, under which GODS members were to make no shitpoasts or smack about the matter (which we haven’t), it has been clearly and publicly established in two posts (here and here) on CAOD that Pure. has lost their war.  With respect to the arrangements that have been made, I won’t go too far into detail about it.

It is enough to say that Pure. put up more of a fight than any of us expected them to, especially considering that the rest of the Northern Coalition was largely occupied elsewhere defending against MAX and Triumvirate.  Despite the fact that G00DFELLAS came out on top of almost every single fleet engagement (we had negative killboard efficiency on only 3 days out of the O-2 conflict: the 3rd, 4th and 5th of September, when things were just getting underway).  Despite the fact that Papa Pod’s doomsday detonations claimed only 13 G00DFELLAS ships, despite their inability to destroy a single GODS capital ship, Pure. was never afraid to engage and did their utmost to give as good as they got.  Their POS defenses were more than adequate and while it could be said that our failure to destroy POSes the first time was due to our not having enough numbers in every time zone, the Pure. POS gunners and capital fleet can’t be discredited here.

It doesn’t take long to get there, does it?G00DFELLAS
I’d hoped that the first night as a part of well-known corporation Comply Or Die and even better-known alliance G00DFELLAS, I’d be able to log at least one kill. So, as I made my way from Hedaleolfarber to H-ADOC my Republic Fleet Issue Stabber, I kept the guns spinning and the warp disruptor warmed up and my eyes on the long-range scanners just hoping for a target of opportunity to present itself. Interference from the EVE Gate was picking up and I knew it wouldn’t be long before I had to shut ‘er down for an hour or so or risk losing her.

A Tale of Two Logoffskis - by Havohej

icoPosted by: Havohej  :  Category: Chronicles: EVE

I’d heard that, when in a time of extreme, insurmountable and inescapable danger, a pod pilot might simply shut down all of his ship’s primary and secondary systems, logging off his connection to the vessel through the unique interface created by the capsule technology.  The idea is that upon realizing that the pod pilot’s connection to the ship’s systems has been terminated, all of the ship’s available power will be diverted from all of its other systems to the warp drive, flinging the ship to a random point in space and effectively out of harm’s way.  This emergency warp, using all of the ship’s available power for the warp core, is generates a strong enough warp field to defeat any manner of warp scrambling.  This is called a “logoffski”.
I’d also heard that, when a pod pilot uses this tactic to escape from harm, they must make sure that they have not come under fire already, because it takes much longer for the ship’s power to be diverted to the warp drive if it has recently been employed in defense of the ship whether it was being used to power weapons systems, shield systems or armor systems.  I’d heard that it can take up to fifteen minutes for a ship to enter emergency warp under these circumstances.  If a ship is sufficiently sturdy, it might just last the 15 minutes and escape destruction.
I present to you a Tale of Two Logoffskis.

Fly to the Rhythm of the War Drums - by Havohej

A semi-up-to-date political map of the EVE-Universe.I think that by the time you’ve got 5 hours of flight time in EVE-Online, every capsuleer knows that there’s a war going on. Everybody knows that the tens of thousands of pilots involved in this struggle, and the sheer vastness of the territory being held and contested by the four main powerblocs (The Southern Coalition, The Northern Coalition, The Alliance, and Superfriends), means that even if you’re not fighting in this war yourself, you are affected by it. This war, and the territory (and therefor resources) being fought over have a universal effect on the EVE-Online in-game market. Issuesin gameplay and balance that arise during this conflict lead to nerfs that effect all players (drone nerf, nos nerf, nanonerf, what else?).
Last night, I flew for my first time in a large fleet op that was organized with the sole intent of doing a little damage in the Great War in the name of VENOM Alliance and the Southern Coalition.

New Year, New Focus (Sort of…) - by Havohej

icoPosted by: Havohej  :  Category: Chronicles: EVE

Right, then, so when we incorporated The Defias Brotherhood within EVE-Online, we did so with the intention of pursuing careers in piracy. [DFIAS] has existed for about a month, now, and we’ve found that perhaps having such a strong PvP focus is more complicated and expensive than it first appeared, especially as we’re still in the growing stage. Add to that the fact that we are now a part of VENOM Alliance, and it takes away one of the pirate’s largest sources of income - the griefers’ wardec.
So we have decided that, while we will not discourage any of our pilots from engaging in activities CONCORD would frown upon individually or in gangs, we will not make corporate-sponsored ops out of such activities. We have also determined that, for the interest of self-reliance, it would be in our best interests to try to develop an industrial core within the corporation and grow that alongside the combat/PvP core.
