O-2RNZ Concluded; Hunting Season Underway

Despite the terms of the agreement, under which GODS members were to make no shitpoasts or smack about the matter (which we haven’t), it has been clearly and publicly established in two posts (here and here) on CAOD that Pure. has lost their war.  With respect to the arrangements that have been made, I won’t go too far into detail about it.

It is enough to say that Pure. put up more of a fight than any of us expected them to, especially considering that the rest of the Northern Coalition was largely occupied elsewhere defending against MAX and Triumvirate.  Despite the fact that G00DFELLAS came out on top of almost every single fleet engagement (we had negative killboard efficiency on only 3 days out of the O-2 conflict: the 3rd, 4th and 5th of September, when things were just getting underway).  Despite the fact that Papa Pod’s doomsday detonations claimed only 13 G00DFELLAS ships, despite their inability to destroy a single GODS capital ship, Pure. was never afraid to engage and did their utmost to give as good as they got.  Their POS defenses were more than adequate and while it could be said that our failure to destroy POSes the first time was due to our not having enough numbers in every time zone, the Pure. POS gunners and capital fleet can’t be discredited here.

Learning What NOT to Do – by Havohej

As you may already know, The Defias Brotherhood of New Eden was founded on piracy. However, with all of the big dogs running around in Molden Heath, we decided to back off a bit and work on establishing an infrastructure. Now that we’ve got our first POS up, and more of my pilots are able to support themselves, I decided that it was time to start looking for a fight here and there.
Having not engaged in a whole lot of PvP combat since we started (maybe twice a week, we’d go out and look for some solo action, but nothing serious or organized), we’re certainly going to be spending a bit of time developing and refining tactics. I keep a close eye on blogs like i-Pirate (by flashfresh), A Pirate’s Perspective (by Kane Rizzel), and of course The Caldari Piratess (by Alia Xi) for inspiration and a bit of tactical insight, but nothing works better than actually putting yourself in the line of fire – and if there’s no line of fire to jump into, then creating one works just as well.

Fly to the Rhythm of the War Drums – by Havohej

A semi-up-to-date political map of the EVE-Universe.I think that by the time you’ve got 5 hours of flight time in EVE-Online, every capsuleer knows that there’s a war going on. Everybody knows that the tens of thousands of pilots involved in this struggle, and the sheer vastness of the territory being held and contested by the four main powerblocs (The Southern Coalition, The Northern Coalition, The Alliance, and Superfriends), means that even if you’re not fighting in this war yourself, you are affected by it. This war, and the territory (and therefor resources) being fought over have a universal effect on the EVE-Online in-game market. Issuesin gameplay and balance that arise during this conflict lead to nerfs that effect all players (drone nerf, nos nerf, nanonerf, what else?).
Last night, I flew for my first time in a large fleet op that was organized with the sole intent of doing a little damage in the Great War in the name of VENOM Alliance and the Southern Coalition.

…Was a Matter of Time – by Havohej

Okay, the day after we blew up Raven08’s Drake-class battlecruiser, another important event took place. But, to be honest, I was too busy yesterday to make a note of it in these Chronicles. So I will log it today – we took a loss. And an expensive one at that.
Four of us set out into a low-sec pocket of Molden Heath looking for trouble and perhaps even profit, caring not if it meant we might run afoul of the anti-pirates who had worked with us to ensure the disruption of that Drake’s warp core the night before. I was flying my Rupture and the three officers I was flying with were flying their Kestrel-class frigate, Vexor-class cruiser and Sacrilege-class heavy assault cruiser respectively.
