¶ Despite the terms of the agreement, under which GODS members were to make no shitpoasts or smack about the matter (which we haven’t), it has been clearly and publicly established in two posts (here and here) on CAOD that Pure. has lost their war. With respect to the arrangements that have been made, I won’t go too far into detail about it.
¶ It is enough to say that Pure. put up more of a fight than any of us expected them to, especially considering that the rest of the Northern Coalition was largely occupied elsewhere defending against MAX and Triumvirate. Despite the fact that G00DFELLAS came out on top of almost every single fleet engagement (we had negative killboard efficiency on only 3 days out of the O-2 conflict: the 3rd, 4th and 5th of September, when things were just getting underway). Despite the fact that Papa Pod’s doomsday detonations claimed only 13 G00DFELLAS ships, despite their inability to destroy a single GODS capital ship, Pure. was never afraid to engage and did their utmost to give as good as they got. Their POS defenses were more than adequate and while it could be said that our failure to destroy POSes the first time was due to our not having enough numbers in every time zone, the Pure. POS gunners and capital fleet can’t be discredited here.

¶ As you may already know, The Defias Brotherhood of New Eden was founded on piracy. However, with all of the big dogs running around in Molden Heath, we decided to back off a bit and work on establishing an infrastructure. Now that we’ve got our first POS up, and more of my pilots are able to support themselves, I decided that it was time to start looking for a fight here and there.
¶ Having not engaged in a whole lot of PvP combat since we started (maybe twice a week, we’d go out and look for some solo action, but nothing serious or organized), we’re certainly going to be spending a bit of time developing and refining tactics. I keep a close eye on blogs like i-Pirate (by flashfresh), A Pirate’s Perspective (by Kane Rizzel), and of course The Caldari Piratess (by Alia Xi) for inspiration and a bit of tactical insight, but nothing works better than actually putting yourself in the line of fire - and if there’s no line of fire to jump into, then creating one works just as well.
¶ It’s a common story, this: capsuleer flies about in a bit of spare time looking to do a public service for the local sovereign government, finds numerous cargo containers full of discarded tonnage, and transfers it to his own cargo containers with the intention of disposing of it in a responsible fashion when some overly aggressive git opens fire. This happened to me just yesterday.
¶ I had some business in Empire, so I had a corpmate pod me to my med clone in Gulfonodi instead of flying the 50 jumps back from G-B3PR. I quickly took care of what needed taking care of and had a few rolls of blueprints, blueprint copies and a skillbook or twenty all boxed up and ready to fly back down to Omist in my Stiletto which also needed to be moved to nullsec space. Having gotten everything together, though, I figured that having not been in the Minmatar Republic for such a long time, I was long overdue in my community service.
¶ For a while, now, I’ve been frustrated with hearing my pilots report that they’ve just jumped into a gate camp. I know as well as they do that they now have a 95% chance of losing their ship. I also know that they have a 15% chance of losing their pod and with it whatever implants they may have plugged in.
¶ Except that it hasn’t been a 15% chance in practice. It’s been nearly 100%! Every time I’ve been online and one of them has jumped into a camp, or every time one of them has logged on and told me about how they lost their ship and got podded, I have briefly explained how to not lose your pod. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to help. I continued to see capsule entries right behind ship entries in the corp’s confirmed losses column. I decided to post a more detailed explanation on our corporate forum. So far, everyone who’s read it has responded positively so I’ve decided to post it publicly here on the blog.
